Euronews Albania’s Barometer asked Albanians if they have any knowledge about civil society organizations.
The findings of the most recent survey showed that Albanians consider only some of these categories as “civil society”, such as: environmental organizations and organizations for human or animal rights.
When asked if religious organizations are part of civil society, only 44.4% of citizens answered: “YES”, while 55.6% answered “NO” or “I DON’T KNOW”.
54.9% of Albanians do not know that sports organizations are part of civil society. Only 45% of citizens know that sports organizations are part of civil society.
55.2% of Albanians do not know that artistic and musical groups are part of civil society. While 44.8% of them know that they are part of civil society.
Regarding environmental organizations, 63% of Albanians are aware that they are an integral part of civil society and 37% have no such knowledge.
For animal protection organizations, 67.1% of citizens are aware that they are part of civil society, and 32.9% have no such knowledge.
As for organizations for human rights and rights for women, children, and minorities, 78.6% of Albanians answered correctly, saying that these organizations are part of civil society, while 21.4% of citizens do not know this fact.
57.4% of Albanians know that organizations of professionals, orders of doctors, psychologists, and lawyers are part of civil society, while 42.6% of them are not informed.
62% of Albanians are aware that humanitarian organizations are part of civil society, but 38% of them are not aware.
Regarding trade unions, 64.3% of Albanians are informed that they are an integral category of civil society, while 35.7% are not.
Regarding community groups, 42.6% of citizens do not know that they are part of civil society, while 55.4% of them know that these groups are part of civil society.
As for journalists and opinion leaders, 44.6% of Albanians do not know that these organizations are part of civil society, while 51.7% of citizens know that they are part of civil society.
Also, when it comes to consumer organizations, 45.9% of Albanians are not aware that they are an integral part of civil society whereas 54.1% of Albanians know that consumer organizations are part of civil society.
