In an interview for French news agency France24, PM Edi Rama spoke about the integration of Albania into the European Union.

The head of the Albanian government stated that our country is being blocked from beginning its first Intergovernmental Conference (IGC) due to the ongoing disputes between North Macedonia and Bulgaria.

“Yes, to be honest, we currently find ourselves in an absurd situation, because at the moment, Albania is like collateral damage in the middle of a conflictual situation between Bulgaria and North Macedonia. After receiving the green light, not only from the Commission but from the European Council as well, Bulgaria has come out with its list of demands, that have a historic or identity character, for North Macedonia and that process remains at a standstill. As you know, the European Council can be easily blocked through a single veto of one of its members,” – said the Albanian PM for the French news station.
