Through a congratulating letter this Thursday, the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, asked Albin Kurti to reconsider the decision to open the Kosovo Embassy in Jerusalem.
He called on the new government to rethink this decision within the frame of the respective resolutions of the UN and international rights.
Kurti didn’t want to comment on Erdogan’s request, saying that he is currently at ‘the place of those that died in the name of freedom’.
“It isn’t the right time or place to speak on political matters and I hope that you understand that today, we are here together with the future president, to honor the victims of the massacre and to show support for the survivors,” was Kurti’s reply to journalists, after paying respects in the gravesites of the Berisha family and the martyrs of Suhareka.
On March 14th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora announced the official opening of Kosovo’s Embassy in Jerusalem.
