The General Assembly of the ethnic Albanian party “Alternative” decided to leave the opposition camp and join the majority.

After several meetings between Zoran Zaev and Afrim Gashi, the two parties are set to seal a deal at 1 PM through a cooperation agreement, taking the parliamentary majority to 64 MPs from 123 seats in parliament, and rescuing the country from going to snap elections.

Euronews Albania correspondent in Skopje Benjamin Arifi said that Alternative will take over 3 ministries, respectively, health, information society and administration, and diaspora, in addition to 3 deputy ministers and state secretaries, as well as 30 directorates across the country.

The Alternative demands that one of the priorities should be launching an international investigation on some notorious cases that many suspect that their evidence has been tampered with, including the Kumanovo clashes and “Monster” case, in which six ethnic Albanians were charged with terrorism for murdering five ethnic Macedonians during Orthodox Easter in 2012.

Gashi also urged Zaev to find ways to keep energy prices low amid the crisis.
