The Amantia Festival, a tradition thousands of years old, was once again celebrated this year in the village of Ploç, part of the Selenica municipality. This long-standing tradition lives on through generations, serving not only as a local celebration but also as a gathering point for different age groups.
For the village elder of Ploç, Adriatik Brahimi, this is an ancient local tradition celebrated just as it was thousands of years ago. The festival showcases regional customs and traditional foods, while also featuring various sporting games and isopolyphonic songs.
Orgest Feimi, head of the Regional Directorate of Monuments and Cultural Heritage in Vlorë, stated that special attention has been given to the archaeological park. According to him, recent archaeological discoveries have increased tourist interest.
He added that excavations are ongoing and are expected to yield further discoveries in the coming years.
Local residents appreciate the organization of the event, noting that the festival also serves as an opportunity to reunite with fellow villagers who have moved away.
The Amantia Festival is held in the archaeological park of the same name — a site with ancient, millennia-old history, of which only 10% has been uncovered so far.
