The new US Ambassador to Prishtina Jeffrey Hovenier said that Kosovo has still a lot to do, but according to him the future of the country is in the hands of its leaders.
After presenting his credentials to the President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, the US Ambassador considered serving in Kosovo as a “life honor”.

Hovenier addressed the nation in the Albanian language stating that he’s happy to be in Kosovo, and reiterated the US support for Kosovo.
“The United States is Kosovo’s unwavering partner and this will continue. One commitment I want to share with you is a commitment from the United States Embassy; first and foremost we are your friends, we are on your side, we will work with you, your government, your people, civil society, citizens, to advance the priorities that include promoting democracy, that include supporting further development of independent institutions, judiciary, and rule of law, which are as important as our ongoing global efforts to fight corruption and establish justice and in this case justice for all citizens of Kosovo,” he said.
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani said that the country is “blessed” to have the US on its side in every step.
“We grew and developed as a country, and will continue to do that because we are blessed to have the United States of America besides us in every step. The role of the US Ambassador in Kosovo is essential in assuring that our relations continue to thrive”, Osmani said.
