The Ambassador of the European Union to Albania met on Friday with the leader of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha to deliver the EU Commission’s progress report.

Ambassador Soreca reiterated that the role of the opposition in monitoring and implementing the recommendations included in the report is “essential”.
In general, the EU Commission used a positive tone in its annual assessment of Albania’s progress published on Tuesday.
Albania made progress in the field of the judiciary and continues to apply extensive judicial reform, the report noted.
“Generally, and despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Albania continued to show its commitment on EU-oriented reforms and has fulfilled all conditions set out in the Council’s Conclusions for the IGC”.
