The Italian parliament will include in its 2022 draft budgetary plans an amendment that will enable to roll out a process recognizing pensions to Albanian nationals that have worked and lived in the country.
The development was confirmed on Facebook by Prime Minister Edi Rama, adding that the Albanian government will remain in constant touch until the budget gets approved.
“I would like to express gratitude to Prime Minister Mario Draghi, foreign minister Luigi di Maio on behalf of all Albanians residing in Italy for getting personally involved in resolving such a vital issue to so many good Albanians in Italy”, Rama wrote.
According to data from Italy’s ISTAT, as of December 31, there were 421,591 Albanians in Italy, and are the second-largest foreign community in Italy, after Romanians.
