Analyst Andi Bushati said on Tuesday that it has become a well-established fact that the Sofia-Skopje dispute will hinder Albania’s EU path.

According to him, Tirana has been caught up in a situation where it is destined to suffer from Bulgaria’s veto on North Macedonia.

On the other hand, Bushati sees Rama’s statement in seeking to decouple from Skopje as ‘a show’.

Several diplomatic sources in Brussels as well as other key European capitals maintain that North Macedonia has actually fulfilled criteria way before Albania.

He also added that Tirana kept Skopje hostage in the integration process, so it is fair that it is not as simple to remove that weight from the shoulders.

“This is the logic that key EU countries have”, said Bushati.

According to him, Albanians should not be pointing fingers at the EU, but at their own government.

“Europe has plenty of bureaucratic hurdles, but we weren’t where we should be either”, he added.
