Analyst Andi Bushati said that the best solution in resolving the internal crises at the Democratic Party would be having Sali Berisha out of the leadership race.
“Although he was the most voted candidate, Berisha should withdraw from the leadership race voluntarily”, Bushati said.
According to the analyst, Berisha is a greater opposition force than Basha but emphasized that the problem is that he cannot lead the Democratic Party into a victory against Edi Rama.
Bushati said that the main task of the Democratic Party should be unification, and then “heal itself from the wounds caused throughout the past 8 years”, and only then it can start to think about who its next leader should be.
But analyst Baton Haxhiu shared another opinion, claiming that Berisha came back to the spotlight for personal gains only.
According to him, Berisha’s reinstatement as the party’s leader would be lethal for Democrats.
“Returning to the executive of the DP for the sake of its unification after all the damage he’s done? The worst thing that could happen to Democrats would be re-electing Berisha again. He is only trying to protect his children and their future”, claimed Haxhiu.
