Analyst Ben Andoni says that the president of Serbia, Aleksandr Vucic, can use the situation created in the North due to the license plate agreement, to gain extra points in face of the EU and the United States.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Andoni said that Serbia, despite the connection it may have with Russia, receives funds from the US and the EU, so Vucic can use this moment to show that he is in fact pro-European.
“Serbia, which must support this initiative, has one foot in the EU and one in its alliance with Russia. Serbia receives most of its investments from the EU. Russia is full of promises and empty air, while Serbia continues to receive investments from the EU and the US. Serbia needs to add fuel to the because it needs noise in Kosovo. However, Vucic has got a card up his sleeve at this point which he could use to his advantage, in order to show the EU that he is in fact European, but recent developments have shown that the Balkans are faced with huge problems and difficulties” Andoni said.
