“We expect economic growth to fluctuate from 3.2% to 3.5%”, said on Tuesday Albania’s Minister of Economy.

Minister Delina Ibrahimaj warned during the press conference that annual inflation is predicted to hit 4.5%.

Ibrahimaj said that in light of an anticipated rise in inflation for the upcoming months, the ministry has revised the main macroeconomic indicators of the budget.

“We’ve partially reduced public investments, at around 9.8 billion Albanian Lek, as well as operational expenditures”, Ibrahimaj explained.

Minister Ibrahimaj raised the concern over the increased inflation on food and non-alcoholic beverages, noting that it was ‘6.9% higher than last February’.

“Inflation in February was at 3.9%, compared to last year. This figure is comparatively lower than other countries in the region. Prices in Albania have been under strict supervision, given that the price of electricity remained the same and under government control”, concluded the Albanian economy minister.
