The High Prosecutorial Council will convene on Thursday to decide who will replace the dismissed Elisabeta Imeraj.
Accordingly, Arens Cela is expected to be the nominee for acting chief of the Tirana Prosecution Office, which will be followed by a race that will elect the new executive.
The public commissioner called for the dismissal of Imeraj, based on a recommendation made by the International Monitoring Operation (IMO).
The commissioner pointed to issues encountered during the evaluation of Imeraj, including wealth, cleanliness of figure, and professionalism.
In a statement to the media after learning the decision, Imeraj said KPA’s ruling was ‘illegal’ and based ‘on anonymous tips’.
