Around 45% of the population could get vaccinated with the current number of doses at hand

The list of vaccines against Covid-19 that are currently being used in Albania through agreements with foreign companies, as of now includes an additional provider, which is the Russian, Sputnik V.

Until now, our country has secured over 2.5 million doses of different kinds of vaccines. Taking into consideration the fact that 2 injections are needed per person, the number of doses secured could cover for 45% of the population.

Vaccines secured to this day through agreements:  

Pfizer- 500 thousand doses

COVAX- 1 million 114 thousand doses

Sinovac- 1 million doses

Through the agreement with the American-German company Pfizer, Albania has secured 500 thousand doses.

Through the down-payment of 3.9 million dollars to the COVAX mechanism, according to the Minister of Health, the country has secured 1 million 114 vaccines.

In addition, after negotiations with a Turkish company authorized for the distribution of Chinese vaccines, according to PM Edi Rama, the government has secured 2 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine.

From these agreements as well as donations from the United Arab Emirates made to Albania, a total of 396 560 vaccines have arrived in the country through Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V and Sinovac.

According to the Ministry of Health, the country has administered 267.556 doses of the vaccines against Covid-19.

Vaccinations:

192, 209- the elderly

36, 939- medical personnel

27, 090- education system employees

10, 835- law enforcement employees

483- pharmacists, journalists, operators etc.

Lately, the vaccination of dialysis patients and people, who have had to undergo organ transplants has started.
