The parliamentary body tasked with managing the Assembly’s agenda decided that on Wednesday, June 9 it will hold a session for the impeachment of President Ilir Meta.
With 94 votes required, MP’s will vote on whether to discharge the head of state.
On May 28, the Inquiry Commission unanimously adopted the final report on the impeachment of the president ruling that the head of state had seriously violated the Constitution, prior to and after the parliamentary elections held in April.
If the Assembly votes in favor of Meta’s impeachment, the matter will then pass to the Constitutional Court which will have the final say.
On the other hand, the Albanian president has described the process as well as the Inquiry Commission as “unconstitutional”.
