Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer declared during the Europa-Forum Wachau that the bloc must see the progress Albania has achieved.

“How absurd would it be if an Austrian chancellor did not stand by Albania to become part of the European family. The Albanian Prime Minister is right when he says ‘Yes, there are many tasks to be achieved in the Balkans’ and in Bosnia and Herzegovina there are even more things to be done, but you cannot compare countries with one another”.

“I can confirm the efforts that Albania has made to ensure the rule of law, domestic security, and transparency”.

The EU needs to see how much progress you have made and the people are so desperate that it is not fair to mix things up.”

President Rama also spoke over the recent EU summit in Brussels saying that the union is ‘powerless in front of the kidnapping of two NATO countries by Bulgaria’.

He also called Bulgaria’s veto against North Macedonia a result of a ‘great deformation of the EU enlargement process’.
