Mothers who gave birth to children from January to July have benefited all together, 12 million euros. This amount is lower than the budget that the government had set at the beginning of the year.

In the first 7 months of the year, the baby bonus cost the budget 12 million euros. For this period, the government expected to distribute 18 million euros, but the number of births no longer corresponded to the planned amount.

The figure has reached the same level as the same period of 2019 when this initiative started, while the number of births recorded an annual decrease of around 7%.

On the other hand, the reduction of rewards for this program has been influenced by the blocking of payments for Albanian migrants. The latter were deprived of the right to receive the baby check, with the argument that they do not contribute to Albania and the financial reward to cover the hospital costs of childbirth is based on the policies of the state where they live.

The baby bonus is given to the mother immediately after birth, and is billed for 40,000 Lek for the first child, 80,000 Lek for the second and 120,000 Lek for the third baby.

For the entire year 2024, the government has provided 22 million euros, while in 2023, the total value of the bonus reached 33 million euros.
