The new President of the Republic voted by the Assembly is not the representative of the Socialist Party, but a true professional who rose in his career thanks to his abilities, and not by a party banner.
This is what Socialist MP Anila Denaj told host Erla Mehilli on Euronews Albania.
According to the former finance minister, the Socialist Party has voted twice for a presidential nominee proposed by the Democratic Party, meanwhile it was also given all its rights in doing so once again.
Denaj said that the SP avoided proposing a renowned figure among its ranks just to avoid speculations that it’s aiming to get a hold of all state powers.
“He’s not a political representative of the Socialist Party and it’s impossible to say that he ‘threw dirt on the process’, for a person who has reached his post through his professionalism”, Denaj said.
