Balluku: The new port of Durres in Porto Romano will cost €390 million euros

The Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Belinda Balluku said during her speech before Parliament that the new cargo port in Durres that will be built in Porto Romano will cost 390 million euros.

The minister underlined that the port should be moved to an industrial area where the railway will pass and connect the city to Prishtina and North Macedonia.

“Fortunately, the new port will cost 2 million euros. Don’t refer to Sali Berisha’s numbers, I’m pulling them out of your head, you know this better than me. This type of quotation does not exist for the construction of the new Port, I will tell you now. It will be built with the capacities of the Port Authority of Durres and it has this duty to develop. Also, with the support of the state budget, it is the duty of our government to modernize the maritime infrastructure which will cost 390 million euros. It will be done because the port of Durres has no accommodation options and we can no longer invest in the heart of a city for port infrastructure. It should be moved to an industrial area, where the railway will pass that will connect it to Prishtina and North Macedonia”, said Balluku.
