DP made a request earlier today to have Elton Bano disqualified from the mayoral race set to take place on March 6.
DP claimed that Bano has been convicted of theft by a court in Great Britain back in 1998-2000.
However, Bano has come out with a public reaction calling out the Democratic Party for defamation and false claims.
According to Bano, who is running for mayor in the municipality of Lushnje, these accusations are false because he has never been convicted of any criminal offense in any of the countries, he has previously lived in.
Through a post on his personal social media account, Bano told citizens of Lushnje to remain calm because he has no criminal history whatsoever.
Bano will be running in the March 6 by-elections in Lushnje under the banner of the Home of Freedom coalition led by former PM Sali Berisha and the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI).
