The general secretary of the Democratic Party Gazment Bardhi said on Tuesday that the parliament has not commenced procedures for the election of the new president.

According to him, if the process will really be ‘open’ and ‘transparent’, then the Democrats must be a party to it.

Bardhi added that the constitution stipulates that the ruling majority must ask for the consensus of the opposition.

“The constitution says the president should be a unifying figure and it is the duty of the majority to reach out to the opposition for a consensual figure for the president, even though I doubt that it will happen,” said Bardhi.”
