Lulzim Basha and Sali Berisha have been caught up in a quarrel that has shattered the foundations of the Democratic Party.

After four months of back-and-forth accusations, it seems that the two have found some rest as the end of the year nears.

Berisha and the Re-foundation commission have demanded from Basha to step down by January 5.

But the ultimatum was ignored by Basha. The leader of the Democrats is set to meet with branch leaders this afternoon, among others to analyze the situation at a local level.

Basha is supposed to seal the several changes on branch leaders until December 31, some of whom have gone on Berisha’s side.

Berisha will also be dedicating the final days of 2021 to meet with DP’s political base.

The aim behind these meetings is to mobilize Democrats ahead of January 5 and 8, coinciding with Berisha’s call for a second protest.

Apart from ground-level meetings, a part of the battle will take place in courts.

Both statutes, namely the one ratified on December 11 and the one on July 17, was deposited at the Tirana  Court. The request filed by the General Secretary of the DP, Gazment Bardhi will be overseen by judge Blerina Muça, while the one sent by the Refoundation Commission will be taken up by judge Agron Zhukri.
