Chair of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha said that on January 8, Sali Berisha staged an act of ‘attempted murder’ amongst Democrats.
In a press statement after giving his testimony for the Prosecution in regards to the January 8 protest, where a group of Democrats and Berisha’s supporters attempted to gain back control of DP’s headquarters, Basha said that the party’s HQ were subject to a ‘barbarian attack’, which was carried out by people who need to be brought to justice.
According to Basha, on January 8, Democrats were used for the self-interest, of a man that has played his part in Albania’s 30-year-long transition, and a man who sees his country is a mere ‘hand-me-down’.
“This is one of the greatest damages done to our political family because of Sali Berisha, but even though DP was subject to a barbarian act on one hand, I ask to have the organizers of this violence convicted, and on the other hand, I don’t want to lose one more second of our time in this trap, because we need to be at the frontlines of this battle, to free Albania from this nightmare – which Berisha has chosen to become an ally of, after the acts of January 8,” – concluded Basha.
