Member of the Democratic Party’s leadership group, Taulanta Jupi, said during tonight’s ‘NOW’ that the United States has openly declared its stance regarding the political row between Basha-Berisha.
According to Jupi, this was clearly identified in the most recent statements made by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US Department of State, Gabriel Escobar, during an interview for VOA (Voice of America).
“Escobar didn’t leave room for ambiguity, when it comes to whose side our partners – the United States – are on, following the violent acts against DP’s headquarters.
Attorney, Redon Meksi, intervened by saying that Basha sealed off the party by only allowing his own supporters to enter the premises.
“The aggression began with the closure of doors, which means they took justice into their own hands. You were the first ones who used violence and they were second. It’s a mistake on both sides,” – said Meksi.
The attorney continued by saying that DP and its headquarters belong to the members, not the party’s leader or its leadership group.
In turn, Taulanta Jupi replied by saying that Basha become leader after a popular vote, and that the crisis is only linked to the fact that Berisha was declared non grata.
“Berisha didn’t stand by his promise that this was only going to be a personal matter,” – continued Jupi .
According to her, Berisha wasn’t able to prove that he had the support of DP’s majority.
