The protest will be powerful. This is what Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha told Euronews Albania after getting out of his apartment building where he met supporters and headed towards the protest.

Berisha didn’t respond however to Euronews Albania’s journalist Elona Gjylmi question on what he thought about ambassador Yuri Kim’s remarks that the protest needed to be a peaceful one.

The opposition’s protest at Blvd. Deshmoret e Kombit started today at 19:00 CET.

Tirana Police reported earlier today that the Democratic Party had asked for a 2-hour permit.

Over 1.000 police officers have been deployed in the areas surrounding the protest and several roads were closed from 16:00 until 21:00.
