The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, during a meeting with Albanian emigrants in Milan, said that victory belongs to the opposition and emphasized that Albania has undergone a significant period of change over the last three months.

He declared that this is the “year of the diaspora,” describing this period as a special year for Albanians abroad, who, according to him, have provided great energy and contributed to hope and trust in Albania.

In a speech delivered before his supporters, Berisha highlighted that Albanians abroad live in a free environment, where political opponents are never imprisoned to seize power, as happens in Albania.

He also criticized Edi Rama’s government, accusing it of misusing national wealth and creating a regime that favors a handful of thieves.

“Friends, you have faced a unique challenge. When I see this extraordinary enthusiasm, I stop and think: Is it because terror, poverty, political imprisonments, and massive looting have numbed Albanians? Why are you so standing up? Why so enthusiastic, so explosive? Because you live in a free country and you know that political opponents are not imprisoned to win mandates.

And you know that roads and schools are not built at ten times the cost to rob citizens.

And you know that Albania’s wealth is not looted and plundered to enrich a handful of thieves at the top of the state and government.

That is why you are standing up. Never before has national consciousness been, perhaps since independence until today, more focused on Albanians abroad than it is now,” said Berisha.

Continuing, Berisha reflected on the changes that have occurred over the last three months. He said that if he had announced a few months ago that the chief strategist behind Donald Trump’s return would come to Albania, no one would have believed it.

“We have succeeded. Just take the major changes of the last three months. Let’s ask ourselves a question together: If Sali Berisha had declared from the eighth-floor window three months ago that the chief strategist of the planet, the chief strategist behind the most extraordinary comeback in history, the return of Donald Trump, would land in Albania to lead the DP campaign, wouldn’t you have said no one would believe it?” said the DP leader.
