During his speech at the protest that took place tonight, in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, former PM Sali Berisha said that the main reason for this protest is the speak out against the Open Balkan project, which according to him, is trying to instil a pro-Serbian narrative in the Balkans.

“We are speaking out in the name of protecting our national interest. We have gathered to protest against the ghost project of the Belgrade-Tirana-Skopje alliance. I want to guarantee Albanians that this isn’t a protest against regional collaboration. This is a protest against a project that has been refused by Bosnia and Hercegovina, Montenegro and Kosovo. It’s a project that aims none other than the instilment of Serbian hegemony in the region,” – said Berisha.

According to the former PM, through the Open Balkan initiative, Vucic and Rama have encompassed Kosovo and are trying to exterminate its independence.

“This is an adventurous effort to annihilate the Berlin initiative and EU integration. I say to Vucic, that he will never be welcome in Tirana because your lord is Moscow. Behind your initiative lies the effort to turn this area into Putin’s personal zone of influence,” – said Berisha.

In addition, he said that this initiative will be overthrown as soon as Democrats come to power.
