On December 8, – Albania’s National Youth Day – former PM Sali Berisha decided to pay homage at the memorial dedicated to the Martyr of Democracy, Azem Hajdari.
Berisha threw jabs at the current DP chair, Lulzim Basha, who according to him has been leading Democrats from one failure onto the other for the past 8 years, wasting all their efforts and sacrifice.
“For the past 8 years, Democrats in this country have been making extraordinary sacrifices but unfortunately, they have been going from one failure onto the next. This is absolutely not their fault either, but it is mainly the result of one man, who for the past 8 years deserves to be called Lulzim Boshi [instead of Basha. Boshi means empty in Albanian]. If nowadays, we say that Rama has been the most brutal enemy of democracy and pluralism in Albania, Lulzim Basha is without a doubt, their greatest traitor,” – said Berisha.
He called on all Democrats and DP delegates to attend the Convention of December 11, during which “the party of Albanian students and youth will be reestablished”.
“We will reestablish the party of students and young generations, of the free vote; we are more determined than ever to dismantle Rama’s narco-state, including his hostage, [Lulzim] Basha, and return conservative values and the values of freedom back to Albania,” – said Berisha.
