The head of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, told journalists in front of the Parliament building that he supports the teachers’ protest and that Prime Minister Edi Rama must meet their demands urgently.
“Today is the national protest of teachers. It expresses support for teachers and students, who have stood up for the most basic demands, for the most basic rights. For salaries, autonomy and scientific research. I ask Edi Rama to urgently meet the demands of the universities. It is not a DP strike, it is a trade union strike. But DP as a force that supports every just cause, will do everything for the prevailing and respect of their rights and demands”, said Berisha.
He further added that the Democrats are preparing for their own protests.
“DP is preparing our own protests. Last night there was a meeting with all the heads of the branches and the youth forum for Tirana and instructions were given for intensive preparation. Meetings with partners, allies, with the Front for the Salvation of Albania will continue. DP will be in protest, in protest, in protest”, he said further.
