An absolute majority voted to discharge Lulzim Basha as the leader of the Democratic Party during the National Assembly convened by Sali Berisha.
Democratic Party MP, Belind Këlliçi said that 4,934 delegates attended the assembly, of which 4,446 voted in favor of dismissing Basha while 36 were against.
DP’s delegates also voted the statute of the new party and the dismantling of the existing executive structures within the party.
What else was decided at the Assembly?
Apart from casting a ballot to discharge Basha, delegates also adopted the new statute of the Democratic Party and presented a new party symbol and seal.
All party members were invited to participate in a referendum set to take place on December 18 to confirm the decision to oust Basha.
Until March 22, when the new leaders will be elected, the Democratic Party will be headed by a 29-member reestablishment Commission.
