Agron Gjekmarkaj, an MP of the Democratic Party, ruled out a scenario where Berisha’s candidates could get more votes than the official candidates of the Democratic Party.
DP’s political leader for the Lezha branch said that the electorate will punish them due to the fact that they will be running under the same banner as the SMI.
“There is no chance that SMI’s candidates get more votes than the candidates of the DP”, said Gjekmarkaj.
“What I know is that they are SMI’s candidates, so they will campaign for that party and will get punished by the electorate for that”, he added.
Asked whether the Democratic Party intends to do something similar to the 2017 local elections when the largest opposition party boycotted the race, Gjekmarkaj guaranteed that the DP is competing to win.
“We have great candidates. We’re not going to the elections to come out second or third, but to win. There are two left forces in Shkodra, Rama’s and the united left of Ilir Meta”, concluded Gjekmarkaj.
