Deputy chair of the Democratic Party, Grida Duma stated that with Berisha’s suspension from the party’s parliamentary group, Basha showed leadership. According to her, DP’s leader couldn’t simply delegate his responsibility to the party’s structural bodies.
“The request was to exempt him from the parliamentary group. This is a well-known fact in that Albanian public opinion, that the request was to expel Berisha,” – said Duma.
DP’s MP said that Basha’s decision to suspect Berisha was an ‘act of leadership’ as well as an ‘extra-statutory act’.
“Firstly, it was beyond the statute. It was extra-statutory because it is a mission of DP’s own existence. Our Euro-Atlantic relations and the strengthening of our Euro-Atlantic relations is the very mission of DP’s existence,” – said Duma.
