Blinken-Borrell meeting wraps up, emphasis on accession talks for Albania and North Macedonia

This Thursday, the US Secretary of State, Antony J. Blinken met with the High Representative of the EU on Foreign Policies and Security as well as vice-president of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, in a formal visit to Washington DC.

In a public statement shared by the spokesperson of the US Department of State, Secretary Blinken is said to have reiterated the importance of the partnership between the US-EU, in addition to Washington’s commitment in working closely with Brussels to face the common challenges ahead.

Moreover, in the press statement posted by the US Department of State, it states that Mr. Blinken openly praised the continuous support shown by the EU, in terms of the European perspective of the Western Balkans, including its dedication to the Enlargement Process.

In addition, Blinken is cited to have emphasized the need to keep moving forward, especially in terms of opening negotiation talks for both Albania and North Macedonia.
