The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken has sent a letter congratulating the newly elected PM of Kosovo, Albin Kurti. Through this letter, Blinken applauds him as well as the people of Kosovo, for the successful and democratic elections, held on February 14th.
In his letter, Blinken wrote that the United States has welcomed the establishment of the new administration and that they are expecting to work closely in order to ensure, as he said, that the sovereign, independent, multi-ethnic and democratic Kosovo can acquire its place as an equal partner in the Euro-Atlantic family.
Secretary Blinken has also welcomed the pledges of PM Kurti to fight corruption, strengthen the rule of law, to recuperate from the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as his efforts for the formalization of the people’s aspirations, reports Kosova Press.
In addition, the letter states that the establishment of a comprehensive agreement for the normalization of relations with Serbia, focused on mutual recognition is fundamental for Kosovo, in order to reach its full potential and to keep making forward steps on the road to EU membership.
“You will have the full support of the United States of America in this respect,” wrote Blinken.
