US Secretary of State Antony Blinken congratulated the citizens of Kosovo on the 14th anniversary of statehood.
In the press release published by the State Department, Blinken wrote that “Kosovo’s independence and sovereignty are irreversible and inviolable” and that building democratic and inclusive institutions requires persistence.
He reiterated the support of the United States in the dialogue with Serbia and said the process is the way to reach an inclusive agreement.
“As one of the world’s youngest democracies, Kosovo and its citizens are rightly proud of the progress you have made during these 14 years. For our part, we are proud to support you in this effort”, wrote Blinken.
The Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue started in 2011, mediated by the European Union.
In addition, said he’s hopeful that one day Kosovo will have a seat among other states in European and Euro-Atlantic institutions.
Kosovo proclaimed independence on 17 February 2008.
