Alqi Bllako’s resignation, a decision he took just a few hours ahead of the Council on the Rules of Procedure, Mandates, and Immunities meeting, was a pact he agreed to in order to cushion his confrontation with the law.

This is the reason analyst Andi Bushati gave for Bllako’s move, adding that the way the former MP acted could point to potential manipulations in his trial process.

He recalled former minister Tahiri’s case and his several hour-long defense in front of prosecutors at the  Council on the Rules of Procedure, Mandates.

“Bllako gave away rights that could shield him. Why? Because there must be a pact of silence: Spare us the show so that we help you afterward. He announced his resignation just a few hours before the Council of the Mandates meeting. After Tahiri’s the ruling majority voted for a law that MPs could not vote in favor of quitting a mandate without strong evidence presented by the Prosecution”, Bushati said.
