Bulgaria’s ministry of foreign affairs isn’t happy with the French proposal.

The foreign minister Teodora Gencovska, has forwarded a report to Parliament detailing several reservations.

According to her, in the negotiating framework of the French Presidency there is a clear reference on the so-called “Macedonian language”.

In addition, the agreement for good neighbourhood and the protocol starting from article 12 do not present a formal criteria for the opening and closing of negotiations.

Moreover, there is no clearly defined role for the European Council that would make sure that North Macedonia implements the bilateral protocol.

Meanwhile, for more than a week, protests are taking place in North Macedonia against the French proposal.
