Baton Haxhiu said that protests are signs of a civilized society, however, he claims that they must have a clear objective and justification.

If these reasons are ambiguous a protest might end up being primitive, Haxhiu said as he compared the protests in Tirana raging for the seventh day in a row.

“Citizens in Tirana are waging a primitive protest as they don’t have a clear objective nor articulate what they want”, he said on tonight’s Shock on Euronews Albania.

“This protest is doomed to fail”, added Haxhiu as he listed several reasons why this might be the case.

“The civil society in Albania is fragile, we don’t have institutions that enumerate problems of governance”, he said.

But according to Andi Bushati, it is ‘cynical’ to ask a protester who can barely make a living to ‘behave as a philosopher’.

“Your hunger is unworthy if you don’t have a broad perspective of the world”, he said.

“That person who takes the street to protest clearly has a problem that he doesn’t know how to solve. So that’s why he screams for help”, concluded Bushati.
