The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has allocated around €3 million euros from its annual fund to political parties registered in our country.
Based on the results of the last general elections which took place on April 25, 2021, the majority of funds will be allocated to the two major parties, namely the Socialist Party (SP) and the Democratic Party (DP).
Of the total fund amounting to €2.8 million euros, €1.2 million will go to SP, whereas €860.000 euros will go to DP.
Democrats will be receiving more funding compared to last year, seeing that they were able to get a better turnout of voters in the April elections, compared to the previous polls back in 2017.
Funding went up for the Social-Democratic Party as well, which was able to win 3 seats in parliament from the last general elections, 2 more compared to 2017.
On the other hand, SMI opted out of several million euros from this fund, seeing that they lost numerous seats from April’s polls.
The Republican Party (PR) and PDIU will be receiving around € 107.000 and €74.000 respectively.
Meanwhile, Nisma Thurje is listed amongst the parties benefiting from this fund for the first time since the party’s founding, even though they weren’t able to win any seats from the last elections, but were nonetheless able to receive a significant number of votes in several districts.
