The Central Electoral Commission in Kosovo has received a request from the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, to recommend the names that will replace the MPs of the Serbian List, who resigned recently.
The ten MPs of the Serbian List, together with other Serbian officials in the institutions in the north of Kosovo, resigned as a sign of dissatisfaction with the decision of the Government of Kosovo to implement the plan for the re-registration of cars with Serbian license plates.
“Relying on the Law on general elections, the Central Election Commission will prepare the recommendation within the legal deadline of 5 working days from the moment of receiving the request”, CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi told Radio Free Europe.
According to the procedures, the resigned officials must be replaced with the new names on the list of MPs from the Serbian List, the main party of the ethnic Serbs in Kosovo.
On November 7, when the MPs from the Serbian List submitted their resignations, the head of Kosovo’s National Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, said that the work of this institution will not be compromised by the sudden decision of a group of individuals.
