On Monday, the diplomat exchanged views and EU integration experience with Bulgaria’s Vice President Iliana Yotova and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Solomon Passy, who led the negotiations when Bulgaria launched the integration proces with Ambassador Biserka Benisheva.
Through a number of posts on Twitter, the Albanian diplomat emphasized that Bulgaria fully supports Albania’s EU integration process.
“Very glad to have met and talked today with Bulgaria’s Vice President #IlianaYotova. An open and useful exchange of views. Albania has met all requirements for the first Intergovernmental Conference, full support from Bulgaria,” Mazi wrote on Twitter.

Albania expects the European Council to approve the negotiating framework in June as well as the European Commission’s recommendation to hold the first IGC on membership talks this year.
Albania’s integration process was postponed last year due to the skepticism of a number of member states.
However, EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, affirmed that Albania has met the conditions to hold the first IGC.
