This Saturday morning, Orthodox Christians gathered at the ‘Christ’s Resurrection’ Cathedral to celebrate Christmas and attend their daytime mass.
As is the tradition each year, the Christmas mass will be led by the Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and the entire nation, Anastas Janullatos. This year wasn’t too different from the previous one in terms of the limited number of attendees in the mass, linked directly to the pandemic and fears of spreading the virus.
Meanwhile, Christians in our country celebrated Christmas Eve yesterday at around midnight, marking one of the most important events in their religious calendar.
During the midnight mass, believers honor the Christian tradition of commemorating the birth of Jesus of Nazareth in Bethlehem. In Tirana, midnight mass was held at the Cathedral of St. Paul.
In his public message from Shkoder, Imzot Angelo Massafra, Archbishop of Shkoder, wished all Christian believers, including Catholic and Orthodox Christians.
