Christiane Hohmann was nominated on Wednesday as the new head of the European Union Delegation to Tirana.
Hohmann supersedes Luigi Soreca, whose term terminated around a month ago.
Soreca left Tirana to take over another important post at the European External Action Service as Special Envoy for external aspects of Migration.
Hohmann is currently the German Ambassador to Estonia and has previously served as Germany’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After finishing her studies, she started working at the German Federal Foreign Office and from 1994 to 1997 at the Embassy of the United States.
In 2016, Hohmann replaced Christian Hellbach as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
