Civil society and citizens in Vlora took the streets this Sunday to oppose a new government project on the renovation of Flag Square.
According to them, any intervention at this historical site undermines not only the city’s identity but that of the entire nation.
The project includes the construction of a large circular platform, instead of the current fountain with its four sphere-like rocks symbolizing the four Albanian vilayets.
“We will lose our collective identity if we don’t react about this”, said a protester.
This is the third protest that takes place against this project, reported Euronews Albania correspondent Ebrieta Macaj.
