Ten days before the parliamentary elections, like never before during the course of the electoral process, religious communities have reacted through their messages.

At first came the message of the Catholic Church for the April 25th’s elections inviting citizens to exercise their right to vote massively.

In the name of all bishops, in his statement, the Bishop of the Diocese of Rreshen, Dom Gjergj Meta said that this is not the occasion to vote for candidates with a suspicious past.

“Whoever sells their vote for money, has sold their dignity and their families’ and loses the voice and right and hold others accountable. Whoever buys the vote profiting from those in economic despair, isn’t worthy of seating on the parliamentary chair. This is not the occasion to vote for candidates with a suspicious past. The candidate’s moral integrity should be a compulsory condition,” said Dom Gjergj Meta.

This declaration was passed by another reaction from the Albanian Muslim Community, who asked citizens to guard their dignity and to not sell or buy the vote.

“Our stance regarding political relevance is as always, neutral, but what is important for us is the process. We would like for this electoral campaign to be calm and correct. We remind all Albanian citizens that the buying or selling of the vote, amongst other things, is a humiliation to human dignity, so guard your human dignity,” stated the Muslim Community through their reaction.

The reactions were also reposted by the two ambassadors, Yuri Kim and Luigi Soreca in their social network accounts.

The Diplomat of the European Union wrote that the April 25th elections should be free and honest and that the verdict of the people should be accepted by all sides.
