CNN ranks Albania among top 12 tourist destination during this summer season.
In an article exploring summer destinations all over the world, Albania is mentioned between other famous destinations such as Madrid, Spain; New York City; Cape Town, South Africa, Piedmont region, Italy; Los Angeles, California; Peru; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Vienna, Austria; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Malta and Thailand, as a “Mediterranean gem that is likely to be less crowded than Greece and Croatia”.
“Albania is a Mediterranean gem that’s likely to be less crowded this summer than Greece and Croatia, says Joao Donadel, another EMBARK Beyond travel advisor. It has a gorgeous coastline with pristine beaches; Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was once a Greek colony and Roman city, later abandoned during the Middle Ages, plus opportunities to hike, trek and explore the great outdoors,” writes Jane Levere for CNN.
This summer season is poised to be a travel blockbuster, with international arrivals already at 80% of pre-pandemic levels in the first quarter of 2023, and a strong summer expected in the Northern Hemisphere, according to the UN World Tourism Organization.
Planning a summer vacation this year could pose a challenge to travelers, writes Levere for CNN, as flights to many destinations are filling up and some airlines are charging record airfares. Hotels and rental properties are booking up in popular locations, too.
