The commander of NATO’s peacekeeping mission in Kosovo – KFOR, Major General Enrico Barduani, has stated that despite the ongoing political deadlock in Kosovo, KFOR is not concerned about any immediate threat to security and remains fully prepared to respond to any attempts at destabilization.

In an interview with Radio Free Europe, Barduani emphasized that election periods can create opportunities for external actors with harmful intentions, but KFOR views the current situation in Kosovo as part of normal democratic processes.

“KFOR is not concerned,” he said. “We are well-equipped and positioned to respond to any potential security threat.”

More than a month after the certification of the February 9 election results, Kosovo has still not managed to form its new institutions.

Eleven attempts to constitute the Kosovo Assembly have failed, and as a result, the formation of a new government remains stalled.
