Four days ago, the two largest Albanian political parties, the Socialists and the Democrats, chose to launch their electoral campaign simultaneously at Tirana’s two main squares.
Communication expert, Erla Mëhilli, analyzed the strategies used by the two parties in conveying their messages to the electorate.
“Both parties have taken different choices. The SP had not invited people hence it was somewhat vague when compared to the opening ceremony of DP’s campaign, who on the other side invited people to the square. There were two different choices”, she said.
She said that Prime Minister Edi Rama during his opening word tried to make a balance of the work done on the second term, but according to the expert the ruling majority has a “governance deficit”.
She listed the two main points of the Socialists Party’s campaign: the reconstruction process and COVID-19 vaccination.
“Rama has a deficit in his governance and claims that his second mandate was disrupted by the earthquake and the pandemic. Reconstruction and vaccination are the two main points of the campaign. Given that he has no balance, he’s opted to attack his opponents”, she said.
But despite the strategies and themes discussed by the two main parties, Mëhilli stressed on Euronews Albania that the main leitmotif of the electoral campaign is the appeal “Rama leave”.
“Despite all speeches, the main leitmotif of this election is “Rama leave”, she emphasized.
