Citizens have been waiting in line for hours at ticket vendors all over the city in order to purchase a bus pass. At the main ticket vendor selling transit passes for the Tirana-Kamez route, citizens had to line up for up to 3 hours in order to get their passes.

“I’ve been here for the past 2-3 hours,” – said a citizen, as several others complained about having to miss work due to the long lines.

These large gatherings are taking place at a time when new COVID cases are at their highest in months.

“We’ve been waiting since 10:00 a.m. this morning. No police officers have shown up to at least keep things under control. COVID is on every corner and we probably contracted it today,” – said another citizen.

Similar concerns were expressed at ticket vendors all over the capital city.

Tirana’s Municipality has been contacted but an official reaction has yet to be released. In addition, the Mayor of Kamez canceled his interview on Euronews Albania this morning, where he was going to comment on the current situation.
