On Tuesday, Albania’s Constitutional Court began reviewing the decision adopted by parliament to dismiss President Ilir Meta.

The session started around 10 AM and continued without any interruptions until 3 PM. The court adjourned for two hours and began deliberations again until 7 PM.

Then, the court decided to adjourn the session to Thursday at 10 AM.

This is not the first time that the court postpones an important decision, after getting back to work following a long hiatus due to vacancies caused by the vetting process.

On Thursday, the hearing will take on the arguments of the other side, that of the president.

President Meta has said earlier that he will not show up in court, but will be represented by his attorney.

104 MPs voted in favor to impeach President Ilir Meta last June over “grave violations to the Constitution”.

The ruling Socialists accuse Meta for inciting violence during the general elections, and not sticking to his presidential duty in staying unbiased.
